Fusion is an excuse for those who do not know how to make authentic food. Such are the words of wisdom from one of BW's friends, and you know, it's quite true indeed. A lot of places which does fusion cuisine are actually doing it wrong... some more so in particular (cough cough wagamama). Some places, I appreciate their concepts of fusion, like Rise Restaurant, but nonetheless, there are some strange flavors and ideas that works theoretically, but not so much on the palate.
So it's back to "normal" authentic cuisine. Actually, not that authenetic...

Takeru had always been a safe option when dining. Price is fairly reasonable for CBD area, and they serve half sizes. Seriously, you'd be hard pressed to find places that serve half size dishes...

Their soft shell crab salad is always good, unless you are their first customer, in which case the oil might not be hot enough to properly fry stuff like soft shell crabs and renkon chips that are on top of the salad... their wafu pizza consisting of mochi and chicken too, oven must have been not hot enough because it came out slightly soggier than what I remembered it to be previously.

Oh wait, this wasn't their mochi pizza. This was their tarako pizza! *cue tarako song from annoying ad*

Their omelette yakisoba is so good though! It's really just normal yakisoba with chicken and vegetables, wrapped in a thin layer of egg... omurice, yakisoba style!
So Takeru isn't exactly authentic Japanese food... they do little twists to their dishes to make it not quite traditional, but still very much Japanese. Service is always good, place is always crowded, convenient location and food is quite well done (unless you're first customer).
After lunch and a nice walk, coffee! This is how I used to do away my Wednesdays~ lunch, walk, coffee, dinner, badminton. Unfortunately, I won't have the luxury of having my first half of the weekends on Wednesdays anymore =( It was good while it lasted, having a nice break in the middle of the week before continuing on.

Happened to stumble upon this cafe ages ago, but never realised it was actually considered one of the top cafes..

That's more like it. Their long black is pretty good, lots of crema and smelt really good. I remember last time when I came here, they were doing a cold drip on the bench near the counter, with barristas surrounding the contraption like precious gold.
Too bad they are closed on weekends.

Wow I've never heard of Takeru before but the food looks really good!
It's along sussex street, and fairly close to Kuai Zi (a place you should avoid at all cost... *shudder*). If you know where Sushi Rio is, just keep walking up that street and Takeru is right there. Food is good and has been for a few years! :D
